Amos Rome Vineyards
Amos Rome Vineyards is a family-owned vineyard and estate winery on the north shore of Lake Chelan. Growing Merlot,
Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, Tempranillo, Albariño, and Cabernet Sauvignon, the mission at Amos Rome Vineyards is to produce premier wines from our estate-grown Lake Chelan AVA grapes.
The Vineyards
The six-acre Block ’98, so named because it was planted in 1998, is essentially a “founders” block since 1998 was the first year commercial grapes were planted in the Lake Chelan valley in modern times. Block ’98 contains Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay. The seven-acre Block ’14, planted in 2014, contains Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. Lastly, the High Blossom Estate property contains Riesling and Grüner Veltliner with future plantings taking place in 2021. Tom Pettigrew earned a certificate in Viticulture from Washington State University in 2015 and manages our vineyard strategies.
The Winemaker
Winemaker Travis Clark first fell in love with wine in the village of Urbnisi, Georgia, where he was living abroad and teaching English. Wine was made by each family and was a big part of daily life. Upon returning to the US, wine slowly grew from a hobby into a profession. Travis attended the Northwest Wine Academy, interned at JM Cellars in Woodville for the 2016 harvest, and became head winemaker at Amos Rome Vineyards in 2017. In 2019, Travis earned a certificate in Viticulture from Washington State University. When he’s not making wine, he enjoys spending time with his wife Briana and children Mallory, Nolan, and Miles.
